1. Raghuram Rajan, in his maiden policy review as Governor of RBI hiked the repo rate by 25 basis points to 7.50 per cent. RBI also rolled back the marginal standing facility rate by 75 basis points from 10. 25 per cent to 9.50 per cent. Minimum daily maintenance of the cash reserve ratio (CRR) was rolled back from 99 per cent to 95 per cent. New Rates are :-
a. Bank Rate – 9.5 % (Decreased 0.75%)
b. Cash Reserve Ratio – 4 % (Unchanged)
c. Statutory Liquidity Ratio – 23 % (Unchanged)
d. Repo Rate – 7.5 % (Increased 0.25%)
e. Reverse Repo Rate – 6.5 % (Increased 0.25%)
f. Marginal Standing Rate - 9.5 % (Decreased 0.75%)

2. Former Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai was appointed as India's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

3. Ranjib Biswal was appointed as chairman of the IPL during the Annual General Meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at Chennai. Ranjib Biswal was replaced Rajeev Shukla.

4. Ruchira Kamboj was appointed as the Permanent Representative of India to UNESCO, Paris with the rank of Ambassador.

5. Ravindra Kumar, Editor of The Statesman was elected as President of The Indian Newspaper Society for the year 2013-14.

6. Sri Srinivasan was sworn in as a first Indian-American judge of the US Courts of Appeal for the District of Columbia Circuit.

7. The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) appointed Sundeep Sikka, Reliance MF President and Chief Executive, as its Chairman.

8. Government of India appointed Justice Vangala Eswaraiah, former Acting Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court as the Chairperson of the National Commission for Backward Classes.

9. The National Spot Exchange Limited appointed Saji Cherian as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company.

10. Deepak Sandhu became the first woman Chief Information Commissioner. She replaced Satyananda Mishra.

11. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh appointed Rakesh Sood as his new Special envoy for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation.

12. Ravi Shankar Narsimhan was presented with Friendship award by China - the highest honor given to foreigners.

World 2013 in Indonesia.

15. The University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Law presented Anna Hazare with the inaugural Allard
Prize for International Integrity at Vancouver, Canada.

16. Former South African President Nelson Mandela presented with a humanitarian achievement award
for his contribution to South-South cooperation and sustainable development.

17. India environmentalist Bunker Roy and Pakistan's teenage education activist Malala Yousafzai declared as winners of the Clinton Global Citizens Awards for the year 2013.

18. Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan selected for a US award for his television show Satyamev Jayate along with eminent American director Kathryn Bigelow and the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict (ICNC).

19. The President of India Pranab Mukherjee presented the National Communal Harmony Award for the
year 2011 to Janab Haji Abdul Bari and Khamliana and for the year of 2012 to Foundation for Amity and National Solidarity.

20. Miss Nigeria, Obabiyi Aishah Ajibola won the Miss Muslimah World contest which was organised by
the World Muslimah Foundation in Jakartha, Indonesia.

21. Indian freedom fighter Jawaharlal Darda was posthumously conferred a Lifetime Achievement Award at UK's House of Commons.

22. Malala Yousafzai and Harry Belafonte were jointly awarded with Amnesty International's Ambassador
of Conscience Award for 2013.

23. National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) was awarded Indira Gandhi Official Language Award for
propagation of Rajbhasha.

24. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the Liberian President was conferred with the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace,
Disarmament and Development 2012 by the President of India.

25. The Lowland, the book of Jhumpa Lahiri was shortlisted among the six books for the Man Booker Prize 2013.

26. Haraprasad Das was conferred the Moortidevi Award for 2012 for Vamsha. Vamsa is a poetic recreation of the Mahabharata in contemporary idiom.

27. Rajnath Singh, the Bharatiya Janata Party President became the campaign committee chief for the 2014
Lok Sabha polls.

28. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced former Indian cricket team captain Rahul Dravid as brand ambassador for its National Tobacco Control Campaign.

29. Megan Young of Philippines was crowned Miss World 2013 in Bali, Indonesia. Miss France, Marine
Lorphelin finished as the first runner-up.

30. India's Navneet Kaur Dhillon finished among the top

20 finalists but couldn’t reach final ten. She won the title of Miss Multimedia.

31. UN-backed special court in The Hague upheld war crimes convictions of Liberian President Charles
Taylor. He was sentenced in May 2012 for helping rebels who committed atrocities in Sierra Leone during its civil war.

32. Indian cricketer Virat Kohli was appointed as the brand ambassador of the Border Security Force.

33. Indian-origin American, Nina Davuluri became the first Indian-origin contestant to win the Miss
America pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

34. Anjana Padmanabhan from Bangalore became the first winner of the Sony TV's singing reality show
Indian Idol Junior.

35. Aga Khan, a Swiss-Born Philanthropist and Muslim Spiritual Leader visited India.

36. External Affairs Minister of India Salman Khurshid paid an official visit to Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan.

37. 13th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of State Summit held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Salman Khurshid attended it. India has been an Observer at the SCO since 2005.

38. The President of the Republic of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf paid an official visit to India since 9 September 2013 to 13 September 2013 at the invitation of the President of India.

39. The Prime Minister of Bhutan, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay visited India. During this visit, India
announced 5000 Crore Aid for Bhutan's Development Work.
