·   In 1936 Hailey National Park was declared as India's first national park. This National Park is now       known as Jim Corbett National Park. It is also the first sanctuary to come under Project Tiger in 1973-74. 
·  There are 102 national parks. 
·  Hemis National Park in Jammu and Kashmir is largest national park of India with 4,400 square km.It is also the National Park located in highest altitude.   
·  South Button Island National Park in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is the smallest National Park with the total area of 2 square miles. 
·  Kaziranga National Park in Assam, Manas National Park in Assam and Keoladeo National Park in Rajasthanare the three National Parks in India that declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985. 
·  Madhya Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands have the highest number of National Parks with 9 each. 
·  Marine National Park, Gulf of Kutch is the first national marine park of India. 

·  Keibul Lamjao National Park, Manipur is the only floating park in the world.
